AndrewShire Art Services presents Cabinet of Curiosities, a fundraising showcase of works by artists with
a myriad of backgrounds and practices for the National Cancer Centre Singapore. Historically, a “cabinet” of curiosities actually refers to a room, as opposed to a piece of furniture. A cabinet of curiosities often contains an eclectic mix of the collector’s items of interest, yet its boundaries are not always limited or defined.

In this exhibition, over 30 local and regional artists will come together to contain their works in our own box of curiosities, namely, Ahmad Zakii Anwar, Eva Armisén, Michelle Chan, Chan Wai Fong, Heman Chong, Genevieve Chua, Donald Lim, Chung Kuk Taek, Ham Myung Soo, Hei Myung Hyun, Dr Elsie Heng, Dr Jean Maysian Ho, Dr Ho Kee Hang, Steven Hwang, Kyong Hwang, Kim Jung, Michael Lee, Kaoru Mansour, Manfred Menz, My Linh Pua, Kumari Nahappan, Donna Ong, Shinyoung Park, Delia Prvacki, Milenko Prvacki, Astrid Preston, Sunsook Roh, Sohn Jinah, Wong Chor Yee, Chris Yap & Zhao Renhui.
We hope to raise a sense of hope for you and cancer research when you step inside our charitable box of curiosities that’s been specially put together for you and your friends. There'll also be a special performance by The I-Sis Trio Ensemble, featuring Cindy Yan (violin), Natasha Liu (cello) and Katryna Tan (harp). We look forward to your positive support for a worthwhile and meaningful cause!
* 100% of the NET proceeds from the Cabinet of Curiosities exhibition will go to the charity of our choice, the NCC Research Fund. Any other cash donations that are made during the exhibition period will also go directly to the NCC Research Fund.
ABOUT NCCS
In Singapore, cancer accounts for approximately one in three deaths. Therefore, there is an urgent need to support cancer research in hope that this illness can overtime be better understood, diagnosed and treated.
The National Cancer Centre Singapore (NCCS) believes that cancer research paves the way to finding a cure in cancer tomorrow. Established in 2005, NCC Research Fund (NCCRF) serves as the flagship fundraising and grant-making channel for clinical research projects in the Centre. To date, the NCCRF has supported 28 research projects at the NCCS, ranging from early diagnostics for lung cancer, clinical trials for nose cancer, and genome sequencing for biomarkers.
Today, NCCS plays a pivotal role in the holistic care and multidisciplinary-based treatment of cancer patients. There are around 80 nurses, 100 doctors and 200 researchers working towards this noble goal. As innovative medicine requires quality research, clinical research is an arduous undertaking that requires ample philanthropic support and public understanding in order to usher medical breakthroughs for the benefit of the community.
